Acryllics and watercolours, from my sketchbook. Pretty old by now.

A tribute to the early 80's Japanese show X-Bomber, known as Star Fleet in the west. It was a puppet show along the lines of Gerry Anderson's work only it was created by Go Nagai (of Devilman fame), so inevitably, by the time the series had finished, only about a quarter of the cast lived.

Brian May loved it, and so should you!

Just saw the clips of the "movie" version on You Tube. I gotta say, it's actually pretty good! I'm used to Godzilla-level SPFX and the voice dubs are on par with the best anime dubs! The story's basic but smart and fun space opera!

I just took a look at the series and being an avid fan of Gerry Anderson's techniques, I loved it! It reminds me of Gerry's "Terrahawks" series, which dosen't surprise me as they were both made in 1983 or around that time....

I think that Star Fleet was actually the inspiration for Gerry Anderson to try the rod method of puppetry...
